Welcome to our website, acor.org. The Association of Cancer Online Resources Inc. ("ACOR", "we", "us", or "our"), provides ACOR's public website at www.acor.org, its site on cancer pain at www.cancer-pain.org, its chat site at www.oncochat.org, its survey site at survey.acor.org, and the services, electronic mailing lists, message boards, chat rooms, discussion groups and archives available on these sites (collectively, the "Website") to you subject to the following Privacy Policy (the "Privacy Policy").

Protecting your privacy is very important to us. This Privacy Policy is intended to help you understand how ACOR collects, uses, and safeguards the personal information you provide on the Website.

1. Information Collection.

Subscriptions. You will be required to submit your name, email address and a password in order to subscribe to any of our electronic mailing lists. In some cases, we may also request that you provide us with your telephone number in order to subscribe to mailing lists with more restricted access. This information will be maintained in a secured environment in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy. ACOR does not keep a database of readable passwords.

Management and Archival Purposes. ACOR maintains and archives a large number of electronic mailing lists. We may use third parties to host, maintain, and archive our mailing lists. In order to access the archives of the mailing lists, which are available at listserv.acor.org, you are required to provide us with your name, email address and a password. You must also have previously subscribed to the mailing list you want to browse or search. If you are not subscribed to a given mailing list and if you have not created a valid password, access to the mailing list archives will be denied.

Writing to the Mailing Lists: Please be careful not to disclose on the mailing lists any personal or other information that you do not wish other people to have access to or that you would later want to remove. Except as set forth elsewhere in this Privacy Policy or in the Terms and Conditions , ACOR cannot and will not remove content from any mailing list or from the archives of the mailing lists. Accordingly, each subscriber should weigh the potential benefits and risks participating on the lists. The only sure way to protect one's privacy is to never write to the lists. Moreover, although we strive to deter abuse of our resources, it is possible that unknown persons or entities could access and archive the lists without our permission.

Browsing our Website. When you browse our Website we may collect, store or accumulate certain non-personally identifiable information concerning your use of our Website. We may also collect specific technical data including OS,browser type and version & monitor size. We log your IP address (the Internet address of your computer), the web pages you visit and the time of visit. We may use such information to analyze trends, administer our Website, track traffic patterns, gather demographic information for aggregate use and maximize usability of various portions of the site. The Survey Privacy document provides a more complete description of the way in which we intend to collect and use the information you provide us in response to the survey. In the event of any conflict between the terms of the Privacy Policy and the Survey Privacy document, the terms of the Survey Privacy document shall prevail.

2. Information Use.

We may use the information you provide us in aggregate form for our internal purposes and for research purposes. We may retain other for-profit or not-for-profit corporations to perform functions on our behalf or partner with entities or individuals to further the interests of cancer research. Examples include research partners, universities, data analysis firms, web-hosting and archiving entities, and fulfillment companies (e.g., companies that coordinate mailings). Such third parties may be provided with access to personally identifiable information needed to perform their functions but may not use such information for any other purpose. In addition, we may provide access to your personal information to potential research grantors in connection with our efforts to secure additional research grants. In such cases, the potential research grantor will be allowed to use your information solely for the purpose of evaluating our grant proposal.

We may disclose any information, including personally identifiable information, we deem necessary, in our sole discretion, to comply with any applicable law, subpoena, regulation, legal process, or law enforcement agency's or other governmental request.

In addition, as we continue to develop, we might become affiliated with another entity or sell certain of our assets (for instance and without limitation, in connection with an affiliation, merger, acquisition, or other disposition of our assets). 5. Subscription Modification and Survey Opt-Out.

If you have subscribed to ACOR's mailing lists, you may review, modify or delete your profile at any time by going to listserv.acor.org and accessing your profile from the specific mailing list page. You must enter the e-mail address you used to subscribe.

If you have agreed to participate in a survey, then please refer to the Survey Privacy document for your ability to opt-out of participating in ACOR surveys.

6. Children under 13.

We allow children under the age of thirteen to subscribe to our mailing list located at 4youth@listserv.acor.org. Before we allow children under the age of thirteen to subscribe to such mailing list and before we collect any personally identifiable information from such children,we obtain parental consent.

Other than with respect to our mailing list located at 4youth@listserv.acor.org, this Website is not intended for children under the age of thirteen, we do not allow children under 13 to register at this Website, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from any children under 13.

7. Notification of Changes.

This Privacy Policy is subject to change. If we decide to change our Privacy Policy, we will post the revised policy here. As we may make changes at any time, we suggest that you periodically visit and review the Privacy Policy at this site. Please note that our rights to use your personally identifiable information will be based on the current Privacy Policy in effect.
